Polls Aren’t Favoring Senate Democrats

Unfortunately, the Brett Kavanaugh political theater is not working out as the left thought it would. Instead, new polling data reveals that nine seats are no longer “toss-ups” in the U.S. Senate race as was reported one month ago but now just seven. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is gaining ground despite the best efforts of Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is trailing by as many as nine points. The new numbers according to Real Clear Politics put 50 seats safely in Republican hands, a nightmare scenario for the left, as VP Mike Pence holds the tie-breaking vote when the senate is tied. Historically, the party in the White House is supposed to lose seats in midterm elections, but it seems this won’t be the case this time.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

According to new polling data, the Democrats’ scorched-earth strategy for delaying the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh not only failed to keep the textualist judge out of the Supreme Court, it appears to have destroyed their chances to gain the coveted 51-seat majority in the Senate.

Just a month ago, Real Clear Politics’ average of the key polls for all of the Senate seats up for election in 2018 listed 9 seats as “toss-ups” that could go either way. At that point, RCP gave Democrats 44 seats that were either safe or not up and Republicans 47 seats. Many of the nine toss-up seats were leaning Democrat.

But the electoral landscape has since changed significantly in the Republicans’ favor. After ceding two of the toss-ups to Republicans since the Kavanaugh circus a few weeks ago, RCP has now given the GOP one more. In other words, RCP now lists 50 seats as relative locks for Republicans. Vice President Mike Pence gives Republicans the tie-breaking vote.

Schumer Blames “Climate Change” for Hurricanes

Let no manufactured crisis go to waste because Senate Minority Grand Wizard Chuck Schumer (D-NY) isn’t. He went above and beyond this week in offering thoughts and prayers to those in the path of Hurricane Michael in hopes of advancing the left’s climate change agenda. Schumer droned on the senate floor that “if we did more on climate change, we’d have fewer of these hurricanes and other types of storms.” To make his case, Schumer cited a new UN report saying there’s a “12-year window to make far-reaching and unprecedented changes” to avert cataclysmic global catastrophe. The trouble is there’s virtually zero science to back up this assertion. Millennia before cars, coal, and carbon dioxide were concerns, hurricanes were ravaging coastlines. They will continue to do so climate accords or not.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

Amid daylight assessments of the toll inflicted on the southeast by Hurricane Michael, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on the Senate floor today that “if we did more on climate change, we’d have fewer of these hurricanes and other types of storms.”

“Everyone knows that, except for a few. Why? Why won’t they admit the truth? Maybe there are two words that explain it: oil industry,” he said.

Michael made landfall close to a Category 5 storm on Wednesday afternoon, ripping apart Florida panhandle buildings and severely damaging Tyndall Air Force Base.

Two deaths have been reported due to the hurricane, which inflicted heavy winds and rain across Georgia and the Carolinas this morning on its march up the coast. More than 900,000 homes and businesses were without power this morning.

“This year has seen huge a number of powerful storms and hurricanes buffet the Atlantic seaboard and the Gulf. Harvey, Irma, Maria, Florence, and now Michael have wrought severe damages.

“Kavanaugh Effect” Crushing Dems’ Hopes

Real Clear Politics is verifying the influence of the “Kavanaugh Effect” according to the latest batch of polls showing that only seven senate seats are now in play as “toss-ups.” To win control of the upper chamber, Democrats must run the table. RCP reveals that 49 Republican seats are “safe” or not up for reelection this fall–two more compared with pre-Kavanaugh chaos numbers. At the same time, Democrats are reportedly safe with their current 44 seats. The obvious problem is that those seats aren’t enough to take over Congress unless they can find another fake crisis that wins the seven races necessary to secure a 51-seat majority. In short, as we have reported previously, the Dems’ attempted borking of Kavanaugh has virtually guaranteed they won’t win the senate. Can you say “karma”?

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

According to Real Clear Politics’ average of the key polls, only seven Senate seats are true “toss ups” — and to take control of the chamber, the Democrats have to win all seven. To make matters worse for Democrats, the so-called “Kavanaugh effect” appears to be real and seems to particularly impacting a few of those toss-up seats.

RCP currently gives Republicans 49 seats that are either “safe” or not up for reelection. Prior to the Kavanaugh allegations, that number was 47. Meanwhile, the Democrats safely have 44 seats, which means they need to win all seven of the remaining toss ups to gain the 51-seat majority in the Senate. Post-Kavanaugh, that prospect is looking less and less likely.

Tennessee’s open seat is one of those “toss ups,” but surging support for Republican Marsha Blackburn is moving it rapidly in the direction of “leaning” Republican. Democrat Phil Bredesen once enjoyed a five-point lead, but after the Kavanaugh chaos, multiple polls show Blackburn leading by a significant margin.

Border Wall Referendum Ready for November Vote

House Majority Head Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) just introduced a bill to fully fund the border wall promised by President Trump. In effect, this turns the 2018 midterms into a voter referendum on delivering that campaign promise. According to a Breitbart report, lame duck Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) is even hinting at a post-election border wall fight. Ostensibly, it will be over McCarthy’s “Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act,” which includes $23.4 billion for border wall construction in addition to other enforcement measures, including “Kate’s Law.”Explained McCarthy, “The American people want us to build the wall and enforce the law. Maintaining strong borders is one of the basic responsibilities of any nation. For too long, America has failed in this responsibility.” With polls squarely in favor of a wall, Democrats may be up against it beginning November 7th.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will introduce a bill this week that will fully fund President Donald Trump’s planned wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, thereby setting the midterm elections up as a referendum on immigration policy, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan hinted at a post-election border wall funding fight on Monday.

“We intend on having a full-fledged discussion on how to complete our mission to secure the border, and yes, we will have a fight about this,” Ryan said of the wall fight that looms at a news conference on Monday.

Now Breitbart News can exclusively report exactly what is expected to happen in the lead-up to, and immediate aftermath of, the midterm election. First, McCarthy, his office confirmed to Breitbart News, will introduce a bill this week that includes the full funding for the border wall–about $23.4 billion more than what has already gone to the wall effort–as well as several other enforcement measures that have already passed the House of Representatives.

McConnell Promises to Push SCOTUS Nominee in 2020 if He Can

The political left is losing its collective mind over the latest hypothetical promise from Mitch McConnell (R-KY): to thwart Obama-era precedent by allowing a Supreme Court nominee a hearing and a vote in 2020. The opposition is crying foul since McConnell blocked the lame duck vote for former Barack Obama’s 2016 nominee, Merrick Garland. McConnell defends the decision in that, unlike in 2016, he anticipates Republicans will control the Senate and the White House in 2020. We prefer the more succinct explanation in Barack Obama’s own words: we won.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

Would Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) be breaking precedent if he allowed a Supreme Court nominee a hearing and a vote in 2020?

Democrats say yes, since McConnell denied President Barack Obama’s 2016 nominee, Merrick Garland, a hearing. At the time McConnell said: “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

Now McConnell is singing a different tune, but he says he isn’t ignoring precedent, because in 2020, Republicans will, most likely, have control of the Senate and the White House. Democrats only had the White House in 2016.

“The Senate in the hands of one party and the White House in the hands of another in a presidential election year,” McConnell said during a press conference. “That is what we had in 2016.”

Collins Reveals Left’s Aggressive Bribery Tactics

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) is blasting liberal groups over their desperate attempts to bribe and influence her vote for now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh and for continuing to attack her after the vote. During an interview with Scott Pelley on Sixty Minutes, Sen. Collins said the country is in a “very sad place.” Collins, who faces reelection in 2020, was even the victim of quid pro quo warnings. A leftist website was set up to take pledges from donors to the tune of $2 million. The organization behind the site threatened Collins that if she voted for Kavanaugh the donors’ credit cards would be processed and the funds given to her opponent. If she voted against Kavanaugh, however, the site promised not to process the donations. “This is a classic quid pro quo as defined in our bribery laws,” Collins explained. In other words, it’s blatantly illegal, but that never stopped the radical left from pursuing its political endgame. Ironically, though, the Kavanaugh fight may have the reverse effect in that it has galvanized Republicans ahead of the elections next month.

Here’s more from BPR…

Sen. Susan Collins believes the nation has come to a “very sad place” as opponents of Justice Brett Kavanaugh attempt to “buy votes and buy positions.”

The Maine Republican has been feeling the aftermath of her affirmative vote for the Supreme Court nominee which secured his confirmation, which she discussed with Scott Pelley on “60 Minutes” Sunday.

The anti-Kavanaugh groups targeted the senator ahead of the vote and continued the attacks after she voted ‘yes,’ taking up the offensive as well in her home state.

“A website went up over these last couple of weeks collecting funds for whoever your opponent may be in 2020,” Pelley said.

“And the deal was that if you voted for Kavanaugh, then the credit card pledges would be processed. If you voted against Kavanaugh they wouldn’t process the credit card numbers,” he continued. “And something over $2 million was raised.”

Ginsburg Forgets 14th Amendment

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, was literally handed a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution during a speech at the national Woman’s Party in late August after she forgot the contents of the 14th Amendment and her own copy of the Constitution that she proclaims to carry with her. The brain freeze happened after she was asked about the Equal Rights Amendment in the context of the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument. One would think no notes would be required to answer what should be a softball question. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider lifetime appointments.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg forgot the contents of the 14th Amendment while speaking to the National Woman’s Party in late August and needed an audience member to give her a copy of the Constitution so she could remember what it said.

The incident happened on August 26, 2018, when Ginsburg was asked to talk about the Equal Rights Amendment while addressing the audience at the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument.

“So you’ve written a few articles over the years about the need for the ERA … and you’ve of course noted that the ERA would give the Supreme Court a more secure handle in its support for equality,” said Jill C. Morrison, Executive Director of the Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship at Georgetown Law.

“But as you mentioned, as both a litigator and in your time on the court, you’ve actually built precedent in that area,” Morrison continued. “So could you explain why you believe that the ERA is still as needed today as it ever was?”

Democrat Staffer Charged with Felonies for Doxxing GOP Senators

Jackson Cosko, 27, is charged with several felonies after “publishing restricted personal information, threats in interstate communication, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, witness tampering, second-degree burglary, and unlawful entry” as part of a malicious attack on GOP senators. After being caught, Cosko emailed a threat to the staffer who reported the incident, saying: “If you tell anyone, I will leak it all. Emails signal conversations gmails. Senators children’s health information and socials.” According to Capitol Police Captain Jason Bell, Cosko worked for Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and former Senator Barbara Bozer (D-CA). He is now facing 20 years in prison if convicted. This is the modus operandi of the left.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

Jackson Cosko, a 27-year-old grad student and cybersecurity expert who worked for several Democratic lawmakers, was charged with several felonies in connection with a doxxing incident involving GOP senators.

Cosko allegedly posted the personal information of several Republicans on their Wikipedia page.

He was charged with publishing restricted personal information, threats in interstate communication, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, witness tampering, second-degree burglary, and unlawful entry.

Fox News: According to a sworn statement by Capitol Police Captain Jason Bell, a witness Tuesday saw Cosko at a computer in a senator’s office, where he used to work, a day after two other unnamed senators’ information had been put on Wikipedia.

Ford Witness Pressured to Change Her Story

On the eve of embattled SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that sexual assault accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s allies have spent the past two weeks ratcheting up pressure on Leland Keyser, a key witness, to change her story. According to the WSJ report:
“Leland Keyser, who Dr. Ford has said was present at the gathering where she was allegedly assaulted in the 1980s, told investigators that Monica McLean, a retired FBI agent and a friend of Dr. Ford’s, had urged her to ‘clarify’ her statement. McLean is also the ‘friend’ in question about being coached through a polygraph, possible for this FBI gig, by none other than Christine Blasey Ford.”

Here’s more from Hot Air…

As attorneys for Christine Ford Blasey demanded an FBI investigation over the last two weeks, the Wall Street Journal reports that her allies were pressuring one witness to change her story. Ford named Leland Keyser as one of four potential witnesses to the Washington Post, but once her name became public, Keyser issued a statement through her attorneys that she cannot recall ever being at a party with Brett Kavanaugh.

Almost immediately, a Ford friend began pressing her to modify her first statement — and that friend just happened to be a former FBI agent:

No, the alleged attack on Ford didn’t happen at the July 1, 1982 party, says … Ford team member
A friend of Christine Blasey Ford told FBI investigators that she felt pressured by Dr. Ford’s allies to revisit her initial statement that she knew nothing about an alleged sexual assault by a teenage Brett Kavanaugh, which she later updated to say that she believed but couldn’t corroborate Dr. Ford’s account, according to people familiar with the matter.

Feinstein: FBI Report “Product of an Incomplete Investigation”

In perfect irony, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who held onto the Ford allegations against SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is now attempting once again to railroad the confirmation vote, claiming that the FBI report is the “product of an incomplete investigation.” She further suggested that the investigation was “limited perhaps by the White House.” Worse, Feinstein admitted to not having read the whole report, yet that didn’t stop her from alleging the report itself was incomplete. Such head-dizzying incompetence and subterfuge is precisely what Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was referring to early this week in his prediction of further Democrat obfuscation. In other words, the usual.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said Thursday that the FBI report on sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is the “product of an incomplete investigation that was limited perhaps by the White House.”

After reviewing the report 9 a.m. Thursday in the Senate SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), Feinstein told reporters that she could only talk “about what’s not in it.”

“The most notable part of this report is what’s not in it. The FBI did not interview Brett Kavnauagh, nor did the FBI interview Dr. Blasey Ford,” said Feinstein, ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee. “Deborah Ramirez’s lawyer said he was unaware of any corroborating witnesses who were interviewed.”
