Planned Parenthood Prez Named Among “100 Most Influential People”

Time magazine has dubbed Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen among its list of “100 most influential people” of 2019, with New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon gushing in the article that she’s “just what the doctor ordered to lead Planned Parenthood” and a “visionary.” Wen memorably tweeted in January that Planned Parenthood’s “core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortion and reproductive health care.” Wen separately told Kaiser Health News that “We cannot separate out one of our services. That’s not how medicine works.” Only in the mind of a pro-abort does the murder of millions of babes in the womb count as “medicine.” Somewhere we recall reading the words: “First, do no harm.”

Time magazine named Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen as one of its “100 most influential people” of 2019.

In a glowing piece about Wen, actress and failed New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon said physician Wen is “just what the doctor ordered” as the person to lead Planned Parenthood.

The Sex and the City star wrote about Wen:

She’s working to expand the sexual- and reproductive-health services offered at Planned Parenthood health centers, including cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, affordable birth control, maternal health services, mental–health counseling and hormone therapy for trans people.

Ohio Gov Signs Landmark Heartbeat Bill

The “heartbeat bill” was finally signed into law by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) Thursday after being vetoed twice by self-proclaimed pro-life former Governor John Kasich. The legislation will protect unborn babies at around six weeks gestation from abortion except when the life of the mother is at risk. Kasich had cited legal expenses as a reason for not signing previous versions of this legislation. Surprising no one, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is promising to sue. The bill joins similar bills in other states that promise court challenges in the coming months as a direct affront to Roe v. Wade.

Pro-lifers in Ohio are celebrating having a “real” pro-life representative in the governor’s mansion after Governor Mike DeWine, a Republican, signed a so-called “heartbeat bill” into law on Thursday — legislation that was twice vetoed by allegedly pro-life former Governor John Kasich.

“The signing of this bill today is consistent with that respect for life and the imperative to protect those who cannot protect themselves,” DeWine said before signing the bill, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The legislation protects unborn babies with beating hearts, which can be detectable at around six weeks gestation, from the fatal procedure of abortion.

The bill, which includes an exception for the life of the mother, was introduced to the House on Tuesday and signed by the governor by 3:30 p.m. local time on Thursday.

Dems Target Black Babies for Segregation-Abortion

Ohio Democrat Representative Janine Boyd is targeting black babies with a detectable heartbeat for abortion. Her amendment to a heartbeat bill before the legislature states that “African-American women shall be exempt from the requirements in sections 2919.192 to 2919.196 of the Revised Code.” Boyd defended the deliberate race-based lack of protection for black babies in slavery terms, saying: “I consider the slave trade and how black slaves were considered like cattle and put out to stud in order to create generations of more slaves….” Mark Harrington, president of the pro-life group Created Equal, responded: “To suggest that only African-American babies with detectable heartbeats should be killed in Ohio is shocking racism not befitting of a representative of the Ohio House.” Indeed. The Democratic Party has become the party of radical liberation…but only for humans already born.

On Tuesday, a Democrat in the Ohio House of Representatives tried to remove protections for black babies in the heartbeat bill currently before the legislature. She argued that allowing black mothers to kill their unborn babies even if their babies have a detectible heartbeat would help America move beyond the dehumanizing legacy of slavery. This argument is painfully ironic, since by making it, the Democrat dehumanized the black babies in the womb — on the basis of race.

Rep. Janine Boyd (D-Cleveland Heights) filed an amendment stating that “African-American women shall be exempt from the requirements in sections 2919.192 to 2919.196 of the Revised Code.”

She defended the amendment in terms of reversing the legacy of slavery.

“I consider the slave trade and how black slaves were considered like cattle and put out to stud in order to create generations of more slaves,” Boyd testified on Tuesday. “I consider how many masters raped their slaves.

“Fetal Heartbeat” Bill Now Law in Mississippi

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant (R) signed S.B. 2116, the fetal heartbeat bill, into law Thursday. The new law bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically between six and eight weeks gestation, except for procedures necessary to save the life of the mother or save her from “substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function.” The Center for Reproductive Rights immediately tweeted its intention to file a lawsuit, calling the new protection for babies in utero “unconstitutional,” adding that it “violates Supreme Court precedent.” Pro-abortion NARAL also attacked the law, calling it an “extremist ban”… “about punishing and controlling women.” It’s high time we call Goliath’s bluff and move full speed ahead on overturning Roe.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

In February, the Mississippi state Senate and House of Representatives passed a bill that would ban abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is typically between six to seven weeks gestation.

On Thursday, Governor Phil Bryant signed the bill into law, sending out a tweet containing a video of him signing the bill. The text of the tweet reads: “I have signed S.B. 2116, the Fetal Heartbeat Bill, thanks to the work of the Mississippi Legislature, Lt. Gov. @tatereeves, and Speaker @PhilipGunnMS. It is now law.”

In a response to a tweet from the Center for Reproductive Rights, which has threatened to file a lawsuit against the law, Bryant tweeted:

We will all answer to the good Lord one day. I will say in this instance, “I fought for the lives of innocent babies, even under threat of legal action.”

Beto Refuses to Protect Babies Who Survive Abortion

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke was caught on video refusing to support legislation that would protect babies who survive abortions, saying he trusts “women to make their own decisions about their own bodies.” The question in reference to the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act: “Would you support this bill that does not in any way limit abortion. It simply seeks to keep babies alive that have been born alive?” The legislation would simply require that the same effort be made to save the baby’s life as would be made to save any other life. For Beto, that’s apparently a bridge too far when your priority is “women’s own bodies”… despite that the legislation has absolutely nothing to do with the mother’s body.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke refused to voice support on Wednesday for a law that would protect babies who are born alive after surviving an abortion.

O’Rourke, who made the remarks in response to a question from a student at Plymouth State University, refused to signal support for the bill and instead deflected to saying that he trusts “women to make their own decisions about their own bodies.”

“Thank you for being here,” the student began. “You gave me a good excuse to be out of school. I wanted to ask you about a recent bill that just went through the Senate about two weeks ago and the bill was that if an abortion was performed on a viable fetus and the fetus survived the abortion the doctor would then be compelled to give that living baby the same care as any other pregnancy baby that came out and put that baby through the care.”
