45 Republican Senators Vote Against Trump Impeachment Trial

Forty-five Republican senators voted against holding an impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump over his remarks at the U.S. Capitol, saying it would be unconstitutional to impeach a former president.

All but five GOP senators sided with an effort proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), sending a signal that there are not enough votes to convict Trump. Convicting a president during a Senate impeachment trial requires a two-thirds majority.

Republican Sens. Mitt Romney (Utah), Ben Sasse (Neb.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), and Pat Toomey (Pa.) voted with Democrats to reject Paul’s order, suggesting the five senators will vote to convict Trump. Romney was the only Republican senator to vote to convict Trump during his first impeachment trial in early 2020. Read more…

In an Epic Troll, Donald Trump Opens ‘The Office of the Former President’

For President Trump, turnabout is fair play. Following the election, President Biden opened the Office of the President-Elect in Delaware. He would give speeches and make announcements from behind a podium that looked very much like the one the president uses. It was a blatant attempt to minimize the outgoing administration’s coverage and put to rest any issues raised about election integrity. While the moniker was not new, Biden took it to a new level.

Today, President Trump officially opened the Former President’s Office in an obvious troll to make a broader point. He is not going away, and neither is his policy agenda. While he will need to figure out how to amplify his message off Twitter, it does not appear he intends to stay quiet or take up painting like President George W. Bush.

If the Trump organization had one strong suit, it was marketing. Positioning him as a champion for the American people in this announcement is authentic and the essence of his policy agenda. President Trump was the first to give a voice to disenfranchised voters by saying he would end international agreements that disadvantaged Americans. While his tax policy and judicial appointments were typically Republican, his trade policies and, to some extent, his foreign policy were not.

He used tariffs to leverage other countries to come to the table on trade and immigration with success. Trump was the first to confront China in any significant way and used the military surgically to destroy the ISIS caliphate and eliminate key actors in global terror networks. Thanks to fracking, which allowed for energy independence, his administration could pursue a principled and effective strategy for greater peace in the Middle East. Other NATO members started paying their fair share and the organization endured.

While there were rumors that Trump was thinking about starting a third party, the language in this announcement appears to indicate a different approach. Read more…

Constitutional Amendment to Prevent Supreme Court Packing Resurfaces

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) introduced legislation on Jan. 22 to amend the U.S. Constitution to limit the Supreme Court to nine justices, the numerical cap that has been in place for well over a century, in order to prevent Democrats from enlarging the court’s membership.

Amending the Constitution is no easy task. The amendment bill must pass by a two-thirds supermajority in both houses of Congress and then be ratified by three-quarters of the states, or 38 of the 50 states, to become part of the Constitution.

The move comes after then-President Donald Trump’s conservative constitutionalist nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, was confirmed before Election Day, replacing the liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died in September.

Filling the seat quickly in an election year enraged many Democrats, given the precedent of Merrick Garland. Following the election-year death in 2016 of Justice Antonin Scalia, the then-Republican-majority Senate refused to take up then-President Barack Obama’s nomination of Garland to the Supreme Court. He has since been nominated by President Joe Biden to become his attorney general.

Biden flirted with the idea of court-packing during the recent campaign but didn’t endorse it, saying he would create a national commission to look at a court system he described as “out of whack.” In October, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that because the U.S. population has increased over the past century and a half, more justices may be needed to sit on the Supreme Court. California Campaign to Fire Newsom Nears Threshold Needed for Ballot

A recall campaign to oust California Gov. Gavin Newsom is nearing its required threshold to qualify for a statewide ballot. Over the weekend, recall organizers said they have collected 1.2 million of the 1.5 million signatures needed by March 17 to qualify for a ballot.

Per state law, petition sponsors must gather the signatures of 12% of the voter turnout in California’s previous statewide election, which is about 1,495,709 names. Rescue California, one of two main groups organizing the campaign, said their goal is to collect 2 million signatures to account for the fact that many of the signatures will inevitably prove invalid.

San Diego’s KUSI reported Saturday that California’s secretary of state has confirmed 84% of the signatures collected so far are valid. This is the sixth recall effort the Democratic governor has faced in two years. Once considered a pipe dream in the solidly blue state, this latest recall effort gained traction in the last year because of growing discontent over the governor’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the economy.

“It’s absolutely gaining traction. We’re getting petitions from not only Republicans but from Democrats and Independents,” John Cox, Newsom’s 2018 Republican challenger who recently launched an exploratory committee to challenge the governor again in 2022, told Fox News last week. “This has just gone on too long — the mismanagement that has accompanied this pandemic.” Read more…

Anti-Trump Leader of Group Who Marched With BLM, Claims Group Helped Storm the Capitol

I’ve written about the involvement of folks in addition to Trump supporters in the actions that occurred on January 6 at the United States Capitol.

We’ve heard a lot about John Sullivan, the left-wing activist who had been involved in organizing BLM protests in Utah and was heard at a D.C. protest in August calling for President Donald Trump to be ripped out of the White House. He was right at the door to the House chamber when Ashli Babbitt was shot and filmed the incident. He was later arrested and police alleged he was involved in inciting action that day that could be heard on video.

The NY Post also revealed that their law enforcement sources had identified two Antifa members from New York among the people at the Capitol.

You may have noticed, if you were observing what occurred, that there seemed to be people who were not your ordinary run-of-the-mill Trump supporters, who seemed to be dressed for battle, organized, and acting somewhat in concert.

That may not have been our imagination. There’s a story that has gone largely unrecognized by much of the media, except for a story in Reuters that most everyone else ignored. Lifesite picked up their story and ran with it this week. Read more…

Locust Salad: Globalist World Economic Forum Can’t Stop Pushing Insect-Based Diet

The globalist World Economic Forum released a new video calling for the wide adoption of an insect-based diet in the western world on Thursday, not even waiting a full day after the inauguration of Joe Biden to propagandize on behalf of an elitist agenda.

The video promotes what the WEF is calling a “grilled locust salad,” along with other bug and mealworm-based dishes. The Davos-based globalist organization points to food safety inspections approving insect foods in Europe, claiming that eating the bugs represents the future of the western diet.

“Insects are forecast to make up more of our protein consumption in the future,” claims the WEF video. Organizations sch as WEF have promoted an insect diet for around a decade, and the global public across the world has rejected its adoption. The WEF also falsely claims that 2 billion people throughout the world eat an insect-based diet, dramatically inflating the figure for worldwide consumers of the unorthodox, dangerous and repulsive diet.

Who is ‘we?’ The elites of Davos will all but certainly continue to eat meat, if their hypocritical, wasteful use of private aircraft while whining about environmental issues is any indicator of their own willingness to go along with a globalist agenda. Read more…

Unions that endorsed Biden are now criticizing him for canceling Keystone pipeline

Unions that endorsed Joe Biden for president are experiencing some buyer’s remorse only days after his inauguration. In one of his first actions in the White House, President Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline. Now, the unions that supported Biden are criticizing the newly-elected president for the political move that they say will “kill thousands of good-paying union jobs!”

The Keystone XL pipeline was first proposed in 2008, but the Obama administration vetoed the 1,200-mile pipeline in November 2015. On his fourth day in office, former President Donald Trump signed an executive order to advance the $8 billion Keystone XL pipeline project, which would pump 35 million gallons of crude oil a day from Alberta, Canada to Steele City, Nebraska.

Citing climate change concerns, the Biden administration announcedon Wednesday it would revoke the federal permits for the Keystone XL pipeline. Read more…

ICE Agents Ordered to Free All Illegal Aliens in Custody

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, tasked with enforcing federal immigration law, are being instructed to free all detainees in their custody, as President Joe Biden’s administration halts deportations.

An internal January 21 ICE memo, independently reviewed by Breitbart News and first reported by Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, orders agents to “stop all removals,” including land and air deportations.

In addition, the memo tells agents that “all cases” of detainees in ICE custody are now to be considered “no significant likelihood of removal in foreseeable future” — suggesting all detainees will need to be released.

“Release them all, immediately,” the ICE official wrote to staff in the memo. Typically, if detainees do not have sponsors in the United States, agents can hold an individual in their custody. The memo, though, states that is no longer the case and that even detainees without sponsors must be released. Read more…
