Liberal Media Is Begging For A Trump Watergate

Despite their animus against James Comey during the Hillary email investigation — not to mention the re-investigation just before the election — Democrats and journalists are itching for reasons to suggest that Trump’s ouster of Comey rises to the level of the Watergate scandal.

Harkening to Nixon’s firing of the independent special prosecutor, libs are calling Comey’s axing the ‘Saturday Night Massacre’…except it was on Friday.

They won’t stop until they’ve pressed for a prosecutor to investigate collusion to cover up the alleged Trump-Russia connection.

Here’s more from Heatstreet…

To read the media coverage of FBI Director James Comey’s firing on social media Tuesday night, you would have thought that the (not criminal) investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible ties to Russia had all been proven true, and that by week’s end, Donald Trump would be resigning, giving a pudgy little thumbs up while stepping onto Marine One for one last time. His brief, chaotic presidency would suddenly come to an end, swiftly felled by an avalanche of Twitter snark and unproven sources from journalists who believe they are the next Woodward and Bernstein.

Each edition of the New York Times or Washington Post is now sacred parchment, like the Magna Carta itself, to be persevered in perpetuum so future generations can marvel at the courage of our free speech warriors who toppled the great god emperor.

Times reporter Eric Lipton did a side by side comparison of the Wednesday Times front page on the Comey pink slip alongside the Times’ 1973 front page on the “Saturday Night Massacre” when Richard Nixon fired Archibald Cox. “Many hear echoes of Watergate” blasted the Times on Wednesday’s cover. “The immediate echo: Saturday Night Massacre” blared The Washington Post.  May 10th was the same day the House of Representatives initiated impeachment hearings against Nixon, about which The Washington Post went out of its way to remind readers — the idea being, of course, that there are eerie parallels with Trump dismissing an embattled FBI Director, whom many Democrats loathed.

“Okay, now is this Watergate?” begged Elizabeth Drew at Politico. John Podesta tweeted at Trump: “Didn’t you know you’re supposed to wait til Saturday night to massacre people investigating you?”

These comparisons between Trump and Nixon did not suddenly fall from the sky upon Comey’s firing. On March 28, Chris Matthews ran a segment comparing the two presidents, with Nixon biographer John Farrell as a guest.

Several established media outlets are convinced Comey’s firing means that Trump, like Nixon, is guilty of something. Of what, exactly, none can explain. They simply hope that by tossing out the name “Watergate”, the impression will stick and somehow Trump will magically vanish.

Collusion with Russia? Nothing yet. Senate committee Democrat Chris Murphy even told Morning Joe there is no smoking gun. Diane Feinstein told CNN on May 4th that there was no definite proof of collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia. Maxine Waters herself admitted as much on Jonathan Capehart’s podcast. “ I’ve got to ask you,” Capehart wondered, “because you leveled a whole lot of accusations out there about collusions and hacking and all of that. Have you seen anything, either through the intelligence briefings, anything to back up any of the accusations that you’ve made?” Waters responded that none has been found.

Maxine Waters: No Support for Trump Firing Comey, But I Would Support Hillary

Mad Maxine Waters is now the Democrats’ chief spokesman for their serial hypocrisy.

The faux outrage over Trump having fired Comey, at least from most Democrats, is tendered on the premise of legitimate scandal. But not for Waters.

She plainly admits that Comey’s firing is unacceptable for Trump, but she’d be perfectly fine if it had come from a President Hillary.

And then she goes to the extreme to correct her interviewer when he tells her he’s confused: “No, you’re not confused.”

Here’s more from RCP…

NBC’s Peter Alexander grills Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Cali.) for her displeasure at President Trump firing FBI Director James Comey after she had announced in January that he has lost all credibility after attending a classified briefing conducted by the now-former director.

In March, Waters issued a press release that read Comey “advanced Russia’s misinformation campaign.”

“I do not necessarily support the president’s decision,” Waters said. ” I think that if the president would have fired him when he first came in, he would not have to be in a position now where he is trying to make up a story about why. It does not meet the smell test.”

However, in the interview Wednesday on MSNBC, asked if she would be okay with a hypothetical President Hillary Clinton dismissing Comey from his position, Waters said yes.

“If she had won the White House, I believe that given what he did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him. Yes,” the California Democrat said.

“So she should have fired him but had he shouldn’t fire him. This is why I’m confused,” Alexander said to Waters.

“No, no you’re not confused,” Waters told Alexander.

“I am confused,” Alexander responded.

Waters tells Alexander that she does not support Trump’s decision to fire Comey:

PETER ALEXANDER, NBC NEWS: You obviously have been very critical of James Comey in the past. You said that he had no credibility. I assume you support the president’s decision then to fire his FBI director.

REP. MAXINE WATERS (D-CA): No, I do not necessarily support the president’s decision.

If the president had not gone all over the country praising him about the way he handled Hillary and the e-mails, if the president had not said he had confidence in him, if the president had not said he was a part of his team —

ALEXANDER: But Congresswoman, I understand in the past he was praising him. But if you said that FBI Director James Comey had no credibility, wouldn’t you support the fact that the president, then-candidate Trump, now president Trump, made the decision to get rid of him?

WATERS: No, not necessarily.

. . .

ALEXANDER: Understood. So if Hillary Clinton had won the White House, would you have recommended that she fire FBI Director James Comey?

WATERS: Well, let me tell you something. If she had won the White House, I believe that given what he did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him. Yes.

ALEXANDER: So she should have fired him but had he shouldn’t fire him. This is why I’m confused.

WATERS: No, you’re not confused. If the president is implicated in an investigation —

ALEXANDER: I am confused.

FBI Agents Say ‘Good Riddance’ To Comey

The fallout from the firing of James Comey earlier this week continues as Democrats have started to coalesce on an official cry for impeachment.

The problem is they’re not yet sure what the charge will be.

Meanwhile, news is starting to leak out, anonymously of course, from agents who say many in the FBI are glad to finally see Comey gone.

Words and phrases like “good riddance”, “overdue”, “political hack”, and other epithets permeate those leaks and betray an agency that was in disunity and disarray under a failed Comey administration.

And in his latest interview, President Trump made it clear he was already planning on firing Comey simply for his incompetence–the same charge Democrats made against him last year.

Here’s more from Daily Caller…

Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe claimed in his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday that former FBI Director James Comey had broad support in the bureau, but some agents, The Daily Caller learned, wanted Comey gone for a long time.

Comments made by three FBI special agents that were given to the Daily Caller in reaction to the White House’s dismissal of McCabe Tuesday night included, “good riddance” and that the firing was “overdue.”

All of the agents concurred that other agents in their immediate work environments are “talking about” Comey’s firing and most appeared unconcerned about his departure.

“We don’t need a political hack,” an agent within the Joint Terrorism Task Force said.

Another agent said, “It should have been expected because he was not doing a good job. He had it coming to him.”

One agent added, “The FBI investigates and he went beyond that. He went beyond what he was supposed to do.”

As far as Acting Director McCabe is concerned, all three say they do not have confidence in him and agents who work with all three at their separate locations feel similarly.

Hypocrisy: Democrats United In Hysteria Over Comey Firing

It’s a conspiracy to cover up the Trump-Russia connection.

Or it’s a constitutional crisis.

Or it’s a personal vendetta to get back at Comey for not prosecuting Hillary.

Or maybe it’s all of the above.

At least that’s what the looney tunes Democrats are arguing.

Though none of their charges are aligned or consistent, they’re unified in demanding answers because they’re sick and tired of Trump and they’re not gonna take it anymore.

Problem is this is the same James Comey that Democrats urged Obama to fire just before the election.

Funny how quickly things change.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

Democrats predictably raised the alarm after President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, accusing the president of trying to cover up the investigation into Russia’s interference into the 2016 presidential election.

Despite blaming Comey for Hillary Clinton’s loss, former campaign aides defended him.

“Twilight zone. I was as disappointed and frustrated as anyone at how the email investigation was handled. But this terrifies me,” wrote former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook on Twitter.

Former Obama aides also accused Trump of covering up the Russia investigation.

“This should not be sugar coated. Firing Comey is up there in terms of the scariest things Trump has done,” wrote Former Obama White House Communications Director Jen Psaki on Twitter.

Former Obama National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes was also appalled.

“This is not normal. This is not healthy for a democracy. The fixed 10 year term for an FBI Director exists to prevent….this,” he wrote. “This justification several months into this Administration is just completely and insultingly unbelievable.”

Senate Democrats also flocked to Twitter to share their reactions and accuse Trump of trying to cover up the investigation.

“If we don’t get a special prosecutor, every American will rightfully suspect that the decision to fire Comey was part of a cover-up,” said Senate Majority Chuck Schumer who questioned the timing of Trump’s decision.

“No more excuses: We need an independent special prosecutor to investigate the Trump Administration’s ties to Russia,” wrote Sen. Kristen Gillibrand.

“Trump firing Comey shows how frightened the administration is over Russia investigation,” Sen. Tim Kaine said on Twitter. He accused the Trump White House of trying “to cover up the truth.”

“This is Nixonian,” wrote Sen. Bob Casey on Twitter. “Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein must immediately appoint a special prosecutor to continue the Trump/Russia investigation.”

“You’re creating a crisis of confidence in our Justice Department,” wrote Sen. Chris Van Hollen to Trump on Twitter, criticizing the president’s “You’re Fired” approach.

You’re Fired: Trump Cans FBI Director James Comey

After far too much ado, President Trump finally pulled the plug on James Comey’s FBI saga in which the nation’s top law enforcement institution has suffered its worst reputation in decades.

Comey reportedly learned of his ouster while addressing FBI employees in Los Angeles when the news began flashing on the screens behind him.

Trump said he was acting on the advice of AG Jeff Sessions and Deputy AG Rod Borenstein who both determined it’s time for a “fresh start”.

Comey has been in the most unenviable position of possibly being the only political figure in modern times hated by both sides of the spectrum.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday, according to a statement from the White House.

In a statement from the press office, the White House said Trump acted on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Borenstein.

“The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” Trump said in a statement announcing Comey’s termination.

In a letter to the president Tuesday, Sessions wrote that after an evaluation, he had concluded that “a fresh start is needed at the leadership of the FBI.”

“It is essential that this Department of Justice clearly reaffirm its commitment to longstanding principles that ensure the integrity and fairness of federal investigations and prosecutions,” Sessions wrote. “The Director of the FBI must be someone who follows faithfully the rules and principles of the Department of Justice and who sets the right example for our law enforcement officials and others in the Department.”

In his own memorandum to the Attorney General Tuesday, Borenstein said the reputation and credibility of the FBI had “suffered substantial damage” in the last year. The deputy attorney general cited Comey’s handling of the investigation into former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s private email server as a “textbook example of what federal prosecutors and agents are taught not to do.”

The president also sent a letter to Comey Tuesday informing him he had been terminated effective immediately.

“While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgement of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau,” Trump wrote. “It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission.”

ACLU Issues ‘Travel Alert’ for Texas after Sanctuary City Ban

Once upon a time the ACLU stood for ‘civil liberties’ but for quite a long time a more appropriate name would be American Communists and Liberals United.

And this is no more clear than this week when the leftist organization issued a ‘travel alert’ for anyone intending to enter into Texas “including U.S. citizens” in response to the state’s sanctuary city ban.

The alert warns of ‘illegal arrest, racial profiling and a demand for papers’ all of which is patently untrue but quite ironic given that that’s what one might expect in the communist regime which the ACLU wold love to institute.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) issued a “travel alert” following Governor Greg Abbott’s signing of the nation’s toughest sanctuary city law.

The warning from the ACLU tells people planning a trip to the Lone Star State to “anticipate the possible violation of their constitutional rights when stopped by law enforcement.”

The press release obtained by Breitbart Texas from the ACLU states:

“The ACLU’s goal is to protect all Texans and all people traveling through Texas — regardless of their immigration status — from illegal harassment by law enforcement,” said Lorella Praeli, ACLU director of immigration policy and campaigns. “Texas is a state with deep Mexican roots and home to immigrants from all walks of life. Many of us fit the racial profile that the police in Texas will use to enforce Trump’s draconian deportation force.”

“We plan to fight this racist and wrongheaded law in the courts and in the streets. Until we defeat it, everyone traveling in or to Texas needs to be aware of what’s in store for them,” said Terri Burke, executive director of the ACLU of Texas. “The Lone Star State will become a ‘show me your papers’ state, where every interaction with law enforcement can become a citizenship interrogation and potentially an illegal arrest.”

Governor Abbott signed SB4 into law Sunday night in a Facebook video carried live on Breitbart Texas. Following the social media signing, the governor spoke with this reporter about the significance of the bill and the distortions being spread about it by the left.

Obama to Congress: Have the ‘Courage’ to Save Obamacare

Eight long years we waited finally to be rid of Barack H. Obama.

Alas, it would not be so. Breaking with longstanding tradition of non-political engagement after office, Obama — who’s not so hot on American tradition after all — stepped back into the fray while being presented with the Profiles in Courage Award at the JFK Library.

During his acceptance speech just days after the AHCA vote, he bid members of Congress to muster the ‘courage’ to save Obamacare.

Is it just us or was that oddly self-serving?

And yet quite on par for Mr. Obama.

Here’s more from Daily Caller…

Barack Obama implored members of Congress to have the “courage” not to repeal the Affordable Care Act Sunday night.

The former president made his first public remarks about the proposed health care legislation just days after House Republicans voted to pass the measure 217 to 213. If it passes the Senate, it would repeal and replace major parts of Obamacare.

“As everyone here now knows, this great debate is not settled, but continues,” Obama said at the John F. Kennedy Library while accepting the annual Profile in Courage Award. “It is my fervent hope, and the hope of millions, that regardless of party, such courage is still possible. That today’s members of Congress, regardless of party, are willing to look at the facts and speak the truth, even when it contradicts party positions.”

“I hope that current members of Congress recall that it actually doesn’t take a lot of courage to aid those that are already powerful, already comfortable, already influential, but it does require some courage to champion the vulnerable, and the sick, and the infirmed,” he continued.

Website Will Mail Your Ashes to GOP Congressmen If AHCA Kills You

Liberals are getting really creative in their efforts to kill the Republicans’ signature AHCA bill.

A new organization has been formed expressly for the purpose of mailing ashes of dead people to members of Congress who voted for AHCA.

That’s right, if you’re on your deathbed and plan to be cremated, you can pre-designate your ashes for political action against the GOP.

It’s really amazing how apoplectic the left is getting over a bill that isn’t even close to becoming law yet.

Here’s more from Mediaite…

If the American Health Care Act were ever the reason you died, you’d have one last chance to make a big statement thanks to a new website.

Yesterday, the American Health Care Act passed through the House, creating panic across Democratic parts of country. After all, the first time the AHCA came up for a vote, it didn’t get through because 24 million people stood to lose their health insurance. This time many Medicaid recipients and people with preexisting conditions saw the same writing on the wall.

There is very real concern that people will die as a direct result of the passage of the AHCA. Yesterday, people took to Twitter and cable news to share their personal stories of hospitalization and disease. Those stories would not have had the same ending in an America where the AHCA was law.

The point of the site is simple: a user can select a GOP representative and have their ashes mailed directly to them in the event they die because of their illness after no longer being covered. The site’s landing page says this:

Millions of Americans rely on protections and coverage from the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The Republicans new bill will gut these protections and many will die.

They deserve to know it. Fill out our form and we’ll help you get papers in order to send your ashes to a GOP member of Congress if you pass.

Poll: Majority of Voters Don’t Want Chelsea Clinton to Seek Office

There’s been increasing talk in recent weeks of the possibility that Chelsea Clinton might soon consider running for office.

And it makes sense, too. After all, Bill and Hillary can’t stand the thought of being out of the public eye and without any political influence.

And it’s obvious Americans don’t like Hillary and Bill is term-limited.

So Chelsea is the obvious option to continue the Clinton machine.

The problem is, according to a new poll, only 48 percent of Dems would support her, and a majority of all voters don’t want to see her run.

Well, that idea is done.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

Chelsea Clinton is not getting much support to run for office from American voters, according to a new poll.
Only 27 percent of registered voters say they would support Clinton if she ran for political office, while 48 percent said they would rather not see her run, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll.

The remaining quarter of voters said they had no opinion or were unsure.

Along party lines, Clinton, 37, did not have a lot of support from her own party, with only 48 percent of Democrats saying they would support her in a future run for office. An overwhelming 74 percent of Republicans said they would oppose her candidacy.

Clinton performed poorly in the polls among independents as well, with only 20 percent of independents supporting her and 48 percent opposing her.

Younger voters, women, and Democrats were more likely to support a possible Clinton run, while men, Republicans, and older voters were more likely not to support a potential Clinton candidacy.

Breaking: Rand Paul Says Obama Spied on His Campaign Too

On the heels of Susan Rice’s rejection of a request to testify before the U.S. Senate, a member of that same Senate, namely Rand Paul, is out with a bombshell claim.

Like President Trump, he too believes the Obama administration may have conducted unwarranted tapping of his presidential campaign.

Sen. Paul is known for his dogged determination to stick to issues, so this story may have legs.

If it does, the question we posed weeks ago is even more relevant: which GOP candidates did Obama NOT spy on?

Here’s more from Breitbart…

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Friday told Breitbart News that several sources have told him that the Obama administration spied on his presidential campaign.

“We’ve had several people come to us and say that it happened. I don’t have access to that information, but I’ve been very concerned that too many Americans’ information is being culled through without a warrant,” he told Breitbart News.

“I don’t have any facts to say it happened,” he said. “But numerous sources are coming to us saying it did happen so I want to search through, find out why I wasn’t notified. Was it on purpose?”

“There’s a lot of things to be found out, particularly since we found out that Susan Rice was unmasking people and we need to know was there a political motivation, because one of the real dangers in a free society is if government gets so powerful it’s listening to all of our phone calls, the possibility of extortion, the possibility of blackmail — all of that goes up exponentially,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Paul revealed that he had requested information from the White House and the intelligence community on whether he was surveilled by the Obama administration or the intelligence community.
